Accountant/Bookkeeper

 

Job Summary

SEI is seeking a motivated, accountant/bookkeeper proficient in QuickBooks Online with an Associate's degree in accounting or business administration. Position is part-time (approximately 80 hours/month), with flexible work hours and the ability to work from home. Salary is $17.00 per hour or more, depending on experience; option for consultant/1099 or part-time employment.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience with general ledger and accounts payables and receivables, preparing financial statements, and coordinating/reviewing payroll

  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, including Excel spreadsheet preparation

  • Associate's degree in accounting or business administration

  • Commitment to consistently meet deadlines with confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and accuracy

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing

  • Job cost accounting and labor distribution experience desired

  • Understanding of government contracting (DCAA requirements) a plus

Job duties

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts

  • Enter bank deposits and withdrawals and reconcile monthly bank statements

  • Record credit card charges and reconcile monthly credit card statements

  • Develop financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow

  • Prepare month-end journal entries (e.g., accruals, prepaids, etc.)

  • Prepare month-end and year-end closings

  • Enter monthly project invoices into accounting system

  • Prepare and review aging receivables and accounts payable with management

  • Identify and research unbilled costs and assist with reconciliation

  • Enter bills and expenses, including employee expense reports

  • Track supplier purchase order funding, expenditures, and balances

  • Record supplier invoices and payments

  • Serve as backup for running payroll (coordinate with payroll service company)

  • Record payroll accruals and expenses

  • Prepare revenue data for quarterly gross receipts taxes for multiple states

  • Maintain job costing and project-specific P&Ls

  • Track and report project funding and remaining balances

  • Process timesheet data, assuring proper distribution and posting of labor to job cost ledgers

  • Assist with preparation of annual incurred cost submission for DCAA

  • Support contract closeouts as needed, preparing financial reports and final invoices

  • Research and prepare salary/wage data analyses to support employee pay setting and job price proposals as needed

  • Purchase supplies and equipment when requested

  • Update inventory and asset listing for business property tax returns
